Getting rid of Google: part one

I use Google services on a daily basis. It’s very powerful and makes your digital life easy. But, lately, I’m feeling a kind of Google dependency that makes me a bit nervous. In addition, I’m a bit disappointed with Google’s need of knowing each site I visit or every place I go. So I’ve decided to get rid of Google. Of course I’m going to keep my gmail account, but the rest of my Google ecosystem is going to be discarded.

First step: no more google ads on this site. I’m trying to be consistent so good bye Adsense.

The next step is keep my mobil phone free of Google stuff, but first I need to find a drop-in replacement for Calendar and Contacts. My first choice is owncloud.

I hope I’ll be able to get my own cloud on line in no more than a week.

I’ll keep you informed.
